Question 1106460

I've actually never seen an algebraic expression worked out like a Geometric 'proof' before. Here's how I'd do it:

given:  4-7x = 25
If we solve this for x that "proves" the value, no?
—

4-7x -4 = 25 - 4       ( equal quantities minus 4 are still equal quantities )
-7x = 21                     ( simplified, both sides )
-7x/-7 = 21/-7           ( equal quantities divided by -7 are still equal quantities )
   x = -3                     ( simplified, both sides )

Done.
