Question 98876
1 1/15 + 3 3/10 - 2 4/5
There are two ways to solve these, I'm not sure which your teacher wants, but I will do it by turning them into improper fractions;
First lets take the first two:
1{{{1/15}}}+3{{{3/10}}}=
turn into improper fractions;
{{{16/15}}}+{{{33/10}}}
you need to have common denominators to add and subtract fractions, which will be 30;
{{{32/30}}}+{{{99/30}}}={{{131/30}}};
Now lets take that answer and subtract the next fraction from that one;
{{{131/30}}}-{{{14/5}}}
find common denominator, 30;
{{{131/30}}}-{{{84/30}}}={{{47/30}}}
turn into a mixed fraction;
{{{47/30}}}=1{{{17/30}}}
