Question 1099115
not sure if i got this right but this is what i calculated based on my interpretation of your problem.

megan and olivia had some money.
they both made a donation totaling 100 dollars.
megan donated 1/5 of her money
olivia donated 24 dollars.

if we let x = the amount of money that megan started out with and we let y equal the amount of money that olivia started out with then we get.

1/5 * x + 24 = 100

subtract 24 from both sides of this equation to get 1/5 * x = 76

this means that x = 5 * 76 = 380

that's how much megan had before she donated 1/5 of her money.

after donating 24 dollars, olivia had 32 dollars more than megan.

i'm assuming that olivia had 32 dollars more than megan after megan gave 1/5 of her money.

the formula becomes y - 24 = 4/5 * x + 32

add 24 to both sides of this equation to get y = 4/5 * x + 56

since we know that x = 380, then we can solve for y to get y = 4/5 * 380 + 56 which makes y = 360

that's how much olivia had before she donated.

so, .........

megan had 380 and gave 1/5 of it = 76
olivia had 360 and gave 24.

76 + 24 = 100
this is the total of what they both gave.

after megan gave 1/5 of 380, she had 4/5 * 380 = 304 left.
after olivia gave 24 from 360, she had 336 left.

olivia had 336 - 304 = 32 more than megan after they both made their contributions.

hopefully this is the solution you are looking for.
