After getting past the bad grammar in the statement of the problem, I think what we have is....<br>
(1) x is the current age of David's father
(2) then x-2 would be the father's age two years ago
(3) since two years ago the father was three times as old as David, David's age two years ago was (x-2)/3
(4) five years from now is seven years later than 2 years ago, so David's age five years from now will be (x-2)/3 + 7<br>

The answer in the book is
{{{(x+19)/3)}}}, not {{{x + 19/3}}}<br>
The book answer is the same as mine:
{{{(x-2)/3 + 7 = (x-2)/3 + 21/3 = (x+19)/3}}}
