Question 97226
y=mx+b m=slope
y=2x-3 m=2 b=-3
a line perpendicular to any line has slope of -1/m. Since m=2 then -1/m=-1/2=-.5
y-y[1]=m(x-x[1]) point slope form.
For the perpendicular line: y-(-2)=-.5(x-1)) "containing the point (1,-2)"
y+2=-.5(x-1)
y+2=-.5x+.5
subtract 2 from both sides. y=-.5x-1.5
