Question 1088955

Let {{{x+10}}} be = to overtime hrs that Jerry worked
and {{{x}}} = to overtime hrs that Andrew worked

=> ratio is {{{(x+10)/x}}}

If Jerry worked {{{4}}} overtime hours for every {{{3}}} hours that Andrew worked, ratio is {{{4/3}}} and we have

since ratios must be same,we have

{{{(x+10)/x=4/3}}} .......cross multiply

{{{4x=3(x+10)}}}

{{{4x=3x+30}}}

{{{4x-3x=30}}}

{{{x=30}}}

 -> so, Jerry worked {{{x+10 =30+10=40}}} overtime hrs
-> {{{x=30}}} ->Andrew worked 30   overtime hrs

check:

{{{(x+10)/x=4/3}}}

{{{(30+10)/30=4/3}}}

{{{40/30=4/3}}}...simplify left side

{{{4/3=4/3}}}
