Question 1071522
Monica has a bag with 30 marbles. 5 of the marbles are blue and striped, 10 of the marbles are striped but not blue, and 5 of the marbles are blue but not striped. Use probability to decide if picking a blue marble and picking a marble that has stripes are independent events.
P(blue)*P(striped) = (5+5)/30 *(5+10)/30 = (1/3)(1/2) = 1/6
-----
P(blue | striped) = P(blue and striped)/P(striped) = (5/30)/(15/30) = 1/3
------
Conclusion:: Not independent events.
