Question 1068776

Solve for x and check.

x/b - c = 2

x - cb = 2b

x + cb - cb = 2b + cb

x = 2b + cb

(2b + cb)/ b - c = 2  Not sure how to check.

Where am I incorrect?  Thanks.

Non-homework.
<pre>You're correct! Great job!
You stated that you don't know how to check, so I will let you know.
x = 2b + cb, so just substitute values (preferably INTEGERS) for b and c
For example, let b = 2, and c = 4. Then x = 2(2) + 2(4), or x = 4 + 8 = 12
Now you have values for b, c, and x.
Substitute these 3 values into the original equation and see whether the left side results in the value 2. If it does, then your solution for x is CORRECT!
That's all....nothing CONFUSING and/or COMPLEX.
