Question 93546
How do I solve this rational equation:
{{{(x+1)/x + (x+4)/x =6}}} First, multiply each term by x. This will get rid of the fractions

{{{((x+1)/x)(x)+((x+4)/x)(x)=6*x}}} simplifying, we get:

{{{(x+1)+(x+4)=6x}}} get rid of parens

{{{x+1+x+4=6x}}} or
{{{2x+5=6x}}} subtract 2x from both sides

{{{2x-2x+5=6x-2x}}} further simplifying

{{{5=4x}}} divide both sides by 4

{{{x=5/4}}}-------------------ans

Hope this helps---ptaylor
