Question 1061082
Hello, We are trying to follow this equation and solution. Any help to show the work would be great thanks

Juan is 2 years older than Sylvia. Four years ago, Sylvia was 5/6th of Juan's age. How old are both now?
<pre>Let Sylvia's age be S
Then Juan's is: S + 2
Four years ago, Sylvia was S - 4
Four years ago, Juan was: S + 2 - 4, or S - 2
Since 4 years ago, Sylvia was {{{(5/6)^(th)}}} Juan's age, THEN, we get: {{{S - 4 = (5/6)(S - 2)}}}
6S - 24 = 5(S - 2) ------- Multiplying by LCD, 6
6S - 24 = 5S - 10
6S - 5S = - 10 + 24
S, or Sylvia is: {{{highlight_green(matrix(1,2, 14, years-old))}}}
Jaun is: 14 + 2, or {{{highlight_green(matrix(1,2, 16, years-old))}}}
That's it....nothing COMPLEX!
