Question 1057403
Hi. I have a concern about linear equations. Can you explain to me about what they are and some examples to give me an idea of what it is.
------
y is normally recognized as a variable whose value depends on the value of x.
---
For a linear equation, y = mx + b
-------
Examples::
If shirts cost $10 each and you have bought 3 of them
y = 10*x is the general equation for this situation.
y is the cost of x shirts.
If x = 3, y = 10*3 = $30.
---------------
If jim is 8 yrs older than twice mary's age,
y = 2m + 8
----
Then, if mary is 4 yrs old,
y = 2*4+8 = 16 yrs is jim's age.
-----
If you Google "linear equations" you will get more
information and see more examples.
Cheers,
Stan H.
