Question 1054114
As the value of x increases by 1 each time, the value of y decreases by the square of x. Is this function linear or nonlinear? Explain your reasoning
Can you help me work it out step by step using a table.
----------------------
slope = (change in y)/(corresponding change in x) = -sqrt(x)/1 = -sqrt(x)
--------------------------------
But -sqrt(x) is a variable, so the slope is not constant, so the
function is not linear.
