Pick any value you like for *[tex \Large x] and substitute that value into the equation in place of *[tex \Large x].  Solve the resulting single-variable linear equation for *[tex \Large y].  Use the value of *[tex \Large x] that you chose and the value of *[tex \Large y] that resulted from your calculation to create an ordered pair *[tex \Large (x,y)].  Plot that point on your graph.


Repeat the process for two different values of *[tex \Large x].  If the three points you have plotted are not in a straight line, check your arithmetic and check that you plotted the points correctly.


Draw a straight line through your three points.


Hint:  Choose small integers for *[tex \Large x].  I would start with *[tex \Large 0] and *[tex \Large 1].  Keeps the arithmetic simple and less prone to error.
