Together time = x hrs/job ; rate = 1/x job/hr

rate + rate = together rate
1/3 + 1/8 = 1/x

8x + 3x = 24
11x = 24
x = 24/11 = 2.18 hrs = 2hr + 10min 48sec (time to do the job together)
