Question 91177
Question:

1. 3(x-2)+2=2(x-4)

2. Find the area of a circular flower bed whose diameter is 6 meters.
Use pie=3.14 as an approximate value.

Answers:

1.

3(x-2)+2=2(x-4)

==> 3*x - 3 * 2 + 2 = 2 * x - 2 * 4

==> 3x - 6 + 2 = 2x - 8

==> 3x - 4 = 2x - 8

subtract 2x from both sides......

==> 3x - 4 - 2x  = 2x - 8 - 2x

==> 3x - 2x - 4 = 2x - 2x - 8

==> x - 4 = -8

Add 4 on both sides....

==> x - 4 + 4 = -8 + 4

==> x = - 4. which is the required solution.

2. Find the area of a circular flower bed whose diameter is 6 meters.
Use pie=3.14 as an approximate value.

Area of a circle whose radius is 'r ' is given by the formula,

{{{Area = (pie)r^2}}}

So here the area of the flower bed is given by,

{{{Area = (pie)r^2}}}

Given, diameter = 6 meters.

==> radius = 3 meters.

So  {{{Area = 3.14 *3^2}}}

==> 3.14 * 9

==> 28.26 meters.
