Question 91122
Question:

simplify (a^2-9)+(a-3)
i divided them and i came up with a+3 but since it looks like an addition problem im not sure how to work it out.

Answer:

Make sure that your question is an addition propblem.

simplify (a^2-9)+(a-3)

Then the answer is..

{{{(a^2-9)+(a-3) =  a^2 - 9 + a - 3 }}}

==> {{{ a^2 + a - 9 - 3 }}}

==> {{{ a^2 + a - 12 }}}, which is the required answer.

If your question is a division problem like this,

{{{(a^2-9)/(a-3)}}}, then the answer is...

{{{(a^2-9)/(a-3)}}} = {{{ ((a+3)(a-3))/(a-3) }}}

==> (a+3)

Hope you found the explanation useful.
