Question 1045452
.
Answer must be in radians. Thanks!
2sin^2x + 3sinx-2 =0
I factored it and was left with (2sinx-1) (sinx+2)
I set it =0 and now have sin(y) =1/2.
My homework has the answers on the back so we need to show our work.
But the answers are 7pi/6 ,11pi/6 which have -1/2 as their y cord
What did I do wrong since I have a positive 1/2?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
<pre>
2sin^2x + 3sinx-2 =0 --->  Factor !  --->
(2sinx-1)*(sinx+2) = 0
The equation deploys in two independent equations:
1.  2sin(x) - 1 = 0  --->  2sin(x) = 1  --->  sin(x) = {{{1/2}}}  --->  x = {{{pi/6}}}  and/or  x = {{{5pi/6}}}.
2.  sinx+2 = 0  --->  sin(x) = -2.  --->   this equation has no solutions.
<U>Answer</U>.  The solutions are x = {{{pi/6}}}  and/or  x = {{{5pi/6}}}.
Do not start your writing saying "Answer must be in radians."
The first phrase must be "Help me please".
It is important.
