Question 90870

     Determine the equation of the line. Write the answer in standard form using only integers as the coefficients.
The line through (0, 9) that is parallel to the line 3x+5y=15.

      The eq'n given slope and a point is (y-y1) = m(x-x1)

               where (x1,y1) = (0,9) and slope is = slope of the line
                                                                 3x+5y = 15

                 slope is y = -3x/5 +15/5
                          y = -3x/5 +3

                 slope m = -3/5

      The eq'n is y-9 = -3/5(x-0)

                  y-9 = -3x/5

                5(y-9) =-3x

                5y - 45 = -3x
   The standard form is 3x+5y = 45
