For a normally proportioned person, the width of your outstretched arms from the tip of one middle finger to the other is the approximately the same as the person's height.  You are on your own for the average height of a room.  A room in your house?  A classroom?  A room in a factory?  A room in a warehouse?  Way too many variables.
