Question 13030
-2x+3y=-14
 2x+2y=4 solve for x and y
First you want o get an answer for one of the variables, so you solve one equation,
2x+2y=4
2x=4-2y
{{{x=(4-2y)/2}}}
Now we have an answer for x(we aren't done yet, that is not the final answer for x.) So lets plug that in the equation for the x.
{{{-2((4-2y)/2)+3y=-14}}}
-4+2y+3y=-14
5y=-10
y=-2
Now you have the answer for y, lets now go back to the equation and find out what x=
2x+2(-2)=4
2x-4=4
2x=8
x=4

Check:
2(4)+2(-2)=4
8-4=4
4=4
Hope you understand
=)
