Question 1040379
.
I'm having some trouble remembering the answer to this question:

If a function f has exactly one x-intercept. Does that mean it's a linear function?

I really appreciate your help, thank yoU!

It doesn't mean.

As an example (or contr-example) consider y = {{{2^x -2}}} whose plot is below:

<TABLE>
  <TR>
  <TD>

{{{graph( 330, 330, -10.5, 10.5, -10.5, 10.5,
          2^x - 2
)}}}

<B>Figure</B>. Plot y = {{{2^x-2}}}

  </TD>
  </TR>
</TABLE>
I do not advise you to keep such things in your memory.

Do not try to memorize it.

But you should be able to quickly get the answer based on your common sense.
