my first question is which part did Esther do? makes it difficult to solve now doesnt it.

this is simply a work backwards problem if R = remainder then{{{4/9}}} of the remainder is {{{24}}} and {{{1/9}}} of the remainder would be {{{24/4=8}}}
so that {{{8(5)=40}}} and {{{40=(5/9)R}}} and {{{24=(4/9)R}}} so {{{40+24=64}}} and means {{{64=R}}}
If T = Total then
{{{R=(8/15)T}}
{{{64=(8/15)T}}} multiply by 15
{{{960=8T}}} divide by 8
{{{120=T}}}
so 
person 1 did 7/15ths of the work meaning {{{highlight_green (56)}}} units
Person 2 did 5/9ths of the remainder meaning {{{highlight_green (40)}}} units
Person 3 did {{{highlight_green (24)}}} units

which one is Esther....no clue...lol
