Question 1036423
.
Hi
a cylindrical tank is constructed in concrete with circular base of diameter 5.4 m. A plastic lid will be placed later.
the concrete base is 200 mm thick
the walls are 150 mm thick

What is the water tanks capacity and what is the volume of concrete required to make it.
could u please show workings out

thank u

1. You forgot to include the tank height into your input.

2. The solution of the other tutor is wrong.

-------------------------------
<U>comment from student</U>: Sorry for my oversight. The tank height is 2.16 m.
-------------------------------

<U>My responce</U>

<pre>
The internal radius of the cylindrical tank (of the hollow) is {{{5.4/2 - 0.15}}} = 2.7 - 0.15 = 2.55 m.

The height of the internal cylindrical hollow is 2.16 - 0.2 = 1.96 m.

The capacity of the tank is {{{pi*r^2*h}}} = {{{3.14*2.55^2*1.96}}} {{{m^3}}}.

The volume of concrete is

{{{pi*2.7^2*0.2}}} + {{{pi*(2.7^2 - 2.55^2)*1.96}}} {{{m^3}}}.
------------ ------------------------------
   the base the cylindrical wall

You make the calculations.
