Question 89447
Hi,
You have a solution that contains 120 grams of salt per litre of water. You have 6 litres of this solution, so that means there are 6*120=720 grams of salt in it.
We want a solution that has 200g/l but contains the same amount of salt (720g) as the current one, because all we are doing is removing water. Anyway if the amount of water we have in litres is x, we need 720/x=200, or x=720/200 = 3.6. So we need to have 3.6 litres of water left to get the correct concentration.
So we had 6 litres, and we need to get 3.6, so that means the removal of 6-3.6=2.4 litres of water.
