Question 1034121
.
Can anyone help with a electricity question? The current (I) in an electrical conductor varies inversely to the resistance (R) of the conductor.
If the current is 1/2 ampere when the resistance is 240 ohms, what is the current when the resistance is 540 ohms?

"... The current (I) in an electrical conductor varies inversely to the resistance (R) of the conductor."

It means that I = {{{k/R}}},    (1)

where k is a proportionality coefficient.

You are given that ". . . If the current is 1/2 ampere when the resistance is 240 ohms".

It means {{{1/2}}} = {{{k/240}}}.   (2)  (I simply substituted the data into (1))

From (2), the proportionality coefficient k is k = {{{240/2}}} = 120.

Now to answer the question, you simply need to substitute this k = 120 and R = 540 into (1). You will get

I = 120/540.

How much is it?
