Just choose a simple number and see how it behaves...
Let's say your smaller number is 3.  If the difference between them is 5, then the larger must be 3+5 or 8.
Let's say your smaller number is 7.  If the difference between them is 5, then the larger must be 7+5 or 12.
In fact no matter what your smaller number is, you're going to add five...
So...if the smaller number is r, then the larger must be r + 5.
