The key thing to know is parallel lines have the same slope.
So write each equation in y=mx+b form. Once you do that, m is the slope and you can equate them fr the 2 equations:

Equation #2: {{{y=-kx-1}}}
So now, you can just equate the 2 slopes and solve for k:
