Since the number has to be greater than 3 hundred, the first digit must be selected from 3, 4, 5, or 6.  So 4 ways to choose the hundreds digit.  For each of those four ways to select the hundreds digit there are 5 ways to select the tens digit, the six numbers 1 through 6 less the digit used for the hundreds digit.  Then there are four ways to chose the ones digit.
