Question 12642
Yes, there is indeed a formula, while its not "Technical" its a way you can do any percentage problem you will ever run into. <P>

{{{ percent/100 = Part/Whole }}}
The 100 never changes, because a percentage is a number compared to 100, the other numbers will vary, you will be given two and need to find the thrid.

Another way to think of this is {{{ percent/100 = is/of }}}
Since 68 is your percent, and the problem asks "of 50" you substitute what you know

{{{68/100 = X/50}}} Now cross multiply
{{{ 100X = (68)*(50) }}} Muliply
{{{ 100X = 3400 }}} Divide both sides by 100
{{{ X = 34 }}}
So 34 is 68% of 50. And you can use this formula for any percentage problem you need.
