Question 1027249

Question:
A house has seven rooms. They need painted. The painter can chose either white or green. How many possible outcomes are there? Thank you!!

Solution:
Nice question!
The word "outcome" means after work is all finished, not during the painting.
We conclude therefore that order of painting rooms does not count.
We can take this problem as a 7-step experiment, where the number of possible outcomes is (#outcome for each room)^7.
For example, if each room could be painted in one of 3 colours, then there are
3^7=2187 ways.
You can work out similarly the number of ways for only two choices of colour in each room.
