Question 1026320
Diana buys 20 apples at x cents each and 40 oranges at x + 10 cents each
She packs them in bags of 5 apples and 10 oranges and sells them for 20x each. How much did Diana pay for each apple if she got $24 total from selling all the fruit?
The answer they give is $0.30 each, but I'm at a loss to figure this one out. Any help would be great!
-----
20x cents for 20 apples
40(x+10) = 40x+40 for 40 oranges
--------
Box DATA::
5x + 10(x+10) = 20x
5x + 10x + 100 = 20x
5x = 100
x = 20 cents (cost of one apple)
x+10 = 30 cents (cost of one orange)
