Question 88211

I need help solving by using the quadratic formula

              3x² - x = 3

Get 0 on the right by adding -3 to both sides:

          3x² - x - 3 = 0

Use the quadratic formula, which gives
the solution to

          ax² + bx + c = 0

The quadratic formula is
                  ______
            -b ± Öb²-4ac
        x = —————————————
                2a

Compare

           3x² - x - 3 = 0
to
           ax² + bx + c = 0

and we see that:  a = 3; b = -1; c = -3
