Question 88116

When you have a problem like below how do you solve it? Do you have to solve twice so that you use x both times?

Find the values of the following expression if x = - 3 and -2
-x^2-5x-6
We have to solve it twice taking the values of x as -3 &-2
1) First taking the value of x = -3 we get -x^2-5x-6 = -(-3)^2-5(-3)-6
                                                      = -(+9)+15-6
                                                      =-9-6+15
                                                      = -15+15
                                                      = 0
 2)taking the value of x=-2 we get -x^2-5x-6 = -(-2)^2-5(-2)-6
                                             =-(4)+10-6
                                             = -4-6+10
                                             = 0
