Question 1018441
Solve for b:
{{{sqrt(b+1) = sqrt(b+6)-1}}}
Get rid of the square root on the left, raise both sides to the power of two:
(((b+1 = (sqrt(b+6)-1)^2}}}
Subtract {{{(sqrt(b+6)-1)^2}}} from both sides in order to move everything to the left side:
{{{1+b-(sqrt(b+6)-1)^2 = 0}}}
Expand the terms on the left and you get:
{{{2 sqrt(b+6)-6} = 0}}
Add 6 to both sides:
{{{2 sqrt(b+6) = 6}}}
Divide both sides by 2:
{{{sqrt(b+6) = 3}}}
Raise both sides to the power of two to get rid of the square root:
b+6 = 9
Subtract 6 from both sides:
b = 3
