Question 1015568
This problem is a little hard to follow. I may not
get it right, but here goes:
The total distance walked is 100 mi, so when they
say 0.2 of the total they mean the fraction {{{ 2/10 }}}
times the total or:
{{{ (2/10)*100 = 20 }}} mi
------------------------
He walked 15 mi the 1st day, which leaves:
{{{ 100 - 15 = 85 }}} mi
10% of what is left is:
{{{ .1*85 = 8.5 }}} mi
-----------------
So far he has walked:
{{{ 15 + 8.5 = 23.5 }}} mi
--------------------
And 0.2 of the total was {{{ 20 }}} mi, so
He has walked {{{ 23.5 + 20 = 43.5 }}} mi
----------------------------------
{{{ 100 - 43.5 = 56.5 }}} mi left to walk
What percent of the hike does he have left to walk?
{{{ ( 56.5/100 )*100 = 56.5 }}}
He has 56.5% of the hike left to walk
