Question 1015560
.
Alejandra knows the angles in a triangle add up to 180 degrees. The measure of the first angle of a triangle is half the measure of the second angle. The measure of the third angle is 40 degrees less than 4 times the measure of the second angle. What are the measures of each angle.
---------------------------------------------------------

Let x be the measure of the second angle in degrees.

Then the first angle is {{{x/2}}}, and the measure of the third angle is (4x - 40).

Your equation is

{{{x/2}}} + x + (4x-40) = 180.

Multiply both sides by 2 to get off the denominator. Then simplify. You will get

x + 2x + 8x - 80 = 360,

11x = 360 + 80 = 440,

x = {{{440/11}}} = 44.

The second angle is 44 degree.
Please calculate yourself other angles.
