Question 12363
Since the Interest paid is in proportion to the Investment, you can set up a proportion:

Let x = interest earned on a $2000 investment.
{{{ (Interest)/ (Investment)}}}= {{{ 45/1500 = x/2000}}}

Remember {{{a/b=c/d}}} means {{{ad=bc}}}

In the same way,
{{{45/1500 = x/2000 }}} means {{{45*2000= x*1500}}}

{{{x= (45*2000)/1500}}}
{{{x= 60 }}}

An easier way to look at it, since $2000 is actually $1500 plus one third of that amount, the interest earned will be the corresponding $45 plus one third of that amount, or $45 + 15 = $60.
