Question 1012769
 Pleas help me with this coin word problem. Tanika has a certain number of nickles and dimes that are worth $4.45. The number of dimes is three less than twice the number of nickles. How many of each coin does she have?
-------
Value Equation:: 5n + 10d = 445 cents
Quantity::       d = 2n-3
------------------------------------
Rearrange for elimination:
n + 2d = 89
2n- d = 3
------
Modify::
2n + 4d = 178
2n -  d = 3
---
Subtract and solve for "d"::
5d = 175
d = 35 (# of dimes)
----
Solve for "n"::
n = -2d+89
n = -70+89
n = 19 (# of nickels)
