Question 57360
What is the formula for turning a decimal into a fraction? Example : .64 2/3 turn that into a fraction. Thanks in advance for your help!
<pre>There is no formula, per se, just steps!

When converting decimals to fractions, we do the following:

1)	Re-write the decimal without the decimal point
2)	Draw a division line under this re-written figure
3)	For the denominator, put a “1” directly below the spot where the
        decimal point was and put a zero for each number after the decimal
        point

{{{"."64&2/3}}}
1)	Re-write the decimal without the decimal point --------> {{{64&2/3}}}
2)	Draw a division bar under this re-written figure ------> <u>64 2/3</u>
3)	For the denominator, put a “1” directly below the spot where the
        decimal point was and put a zero for each number after the decimal
        point ------> {{{(64&2/3)/100}}}

{{{(64&2/3)/100}}}
{{{194/3}}}{{{"÷"}}}{{{100/1}}} ------- Converting {{{64&2/3}}} to an improper fraction
{{{194/3}}}{{{"*"}}}{{{1/100}}} ------- Applying KEEP, CHANGE, FLIP
{{{97cross(194)/3}}}{{{"*"}}}{{{1/50cross(100)}}} ------------- Cancelling by dividing numerator and denominator by 2
{{{highlight_green(97/150)}}}
