From the facts we have
y = 3x - 5
and
xy = 50
Now substitute and solve...
x(3x - 5)=50
3x^2 - 5x - 50 = 0
Factoring we get
(3x + 10)(x - 5) = 0
which gives
x = -10/3 and x = 5
If x = 5, y = 10.
If x = -10/3, y = -15.
