Question 999539
It says to solve each system by substitution and elimination but I don't understand on how to do it.
Y=-3x+4
Y=3x-2
<pre><b><u>ELIMINATION</b></u>
y = - 3x + 4 --- eq (i)
y = 3x - 2 ----- eq (ii)
2y = 2 --------- Adding eqs (ii) & (i)
y = {{{2/2}}}, or {{{highlight_green(1)}}}
1 = - 3x + 4  ------- Substituting 1 for y in eq (i)
3x = 4 - 1
3x = 3
x = {{{3/3}}}, or {{{highlight_green(x = 1)}}}
<b><u>SUBSTITUTION</b></u>
Since both equations have already been solved for y, then just set them equal to each other, as follows: - 3x + 4 = 3x - 2
Solve this for x, then find y
