Question 999537

Everything you have done is technically correct, but you are probably going to confuse the hell out of yourself using three variables -- certainly confuses me.

Try it this way:

Let *[tex \Large x] represent Adam's age. Then Barry's age is *[tex \Large x\ +\ 10], and Charles' age is *[tex \Large x\ +\ 20].

Now you can say:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 3x\ =\ x\ +\ 20]

and solve for *[tex \Large x]

John
*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi}\ +\ 1\ =\ 0]
My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it

*[tex \Large \ \
*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \
