2. How do I find the probability of single- randomly selected shopper for buying clothes or electronics but not both? 500 customers, 320 shopped for clothes, 295 shopped for electronics, 175 shopped for both.
Part B how can these numbers be shown in a venn diagram with four regions i.e.
Sketch a rectangle with two intersecting circles inside the rectangle.
Label the circles:: clothes ; electronics
175 is the number in the intersection of the 2 circles
320-175 = 145 is the number in clothes but not in the intersection
295-175 = 120 is the number in electronics but not in the intersection
P(clothes or elect) = P(clothes) + P(electronics)-P(clothes AND electronics)
= (320+295-175)/500 = 440/500 = 11/25
