Question 987569
.
Hello,

I will help you with the first problem.

Let  x  be the smaller number.

The the other number is  3x + 14.  We know that their sum is  90.  It gives an equation

x + (3x + 14) = 90.

Solve it step by step:

x + 3x + 14 = 90,

4x = 90 - 14,

4x = 76,

x = {{{76/4}}} = 19.   It is the smaller number.

The other number is   90 - 19 = 71.

(it is really in  14  more than  3x:   3*19 + 14 = 57 +14 = 71).
