Question 84362
{{{2/5-y/(y-2)}}}
Like any addition or subtraction of fractions, you need to find the LCD. The LCD is this case is:
{{{LCD=5(y-2)}}}
So rewrite the fractions as follows:
{{{(2(y-2)/5(y-2))-(5y/(5(y-2)))}}}
Notice how the value of each fraction did not change.
Now that you have a common denominator, you can do the subtraction:
{{{(2y-4-5y)/(5(y-2))}}}
Simplifying...
{{{(-3y-4)/(5y-10)}}}
And you are done.
Good Luck,
