Question 984262
Squaring is to push one dimension across another at a right angle. One dimension alone is linear. Crossing a measure in one dimension across another measure at right angle covers a surface, called AREA.

A square shape is the most humanly convenient way to make reference to amount of surface.

Perimeter is still a linear concept. Perimeter is not area; a perimeter encloses an area but is still a measure of length.

Height, length, breadth, depth -------- are just different ways to label linear dimensions as a way to discuss the measures of a situation and not confuse one measure with another measure in the given situation.
