Yes, a sequence is a function. The definition of a sequence is a function in which the domain is nonnegative integers (only whole positive numbers). So you can only plug in numbers like 1,2,3,4... The only difference between the function you might be thinking of (like {{{f(x)=x^2}}}) and a sequence, is the first example is continuous (any number will work and there are no holes or gaps) while a sequence is discrete (only whole numbers will work).
