I you have *[tex \Large x] gallons of 70% solution, then *[tex \Large 0.7x] gallons is pure stuff. If you have 70 gallons of 10% solution, then *[tex \Large 0.1\ \times\ 70\ =\ 7] gallons of pure stuff. If you mix *[tex \Large x] gallons with *[tex \Large 70] gallons, you have *[tex \Large x\ +\ 70] gallons, and 60% of this, or *[tex \Large 0.6(x\ +\ 70)] is pure stuff. The amount of pure stuff has to equal the amount of pure stuff, so:

*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ 0.7x\ +\ 7\ =\ 0.6(x\ +\ 70)]

Just solve for *[tex \Large x].

John
*[tex \LARGE e^{i\pi}\ +\ 1\ =\ 0]
My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it

*[tex \Large \ \
*[tex \LARGE \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \
