Question 83706
Solve and show work.

Sue can sew a precut dress in 3 hours. Helen can sew the same dress in 2 hours. If they work together, how long will it take them to complete sewing that dress? Give your answer rounded to one decimal place, if necessary.
Sue can sew 1 dress in 3 hours: 1/3
Helen can sew 1 dress in 2 hours: 1/2
Together they can sew 1 dress in t hours: 1/t
Problem to solve:
{{{1/3+1/2=1/t}}}
The LCD is 2*3*t=6t. If you multiply everything by the LCD you can clear your fractions:
{{{6t(1/3)+6t(1/2)=6t(1/t)}}}
{{{2t+3t=6}}}
{{{5t=6}}}
{{{5t/5=6/5}}}
{{{highlight(t=1.2hrs)}}}
Happy Calculating!!!!
