Question 978945
Let {{{ s }}} = Simon's age now
Let {{{ c }}} = Clara's age now
--------------------------
(1) {{{ s - 6 = 2*( c - 6 ) }}}
(2) {{{ s + 4 = 2*( c + 4 ) - 10 }}}
-----------------------------
(1) {{{ s - 6 = 2c - 12 }}}
(1) {{{ 2c - s = 6 }}}
and
(2) {{{ s + 4 = 2c + 8 - 10 }}}
(2) {{{ s + 4 = 2c - 2 }}}
(2) {{{ 2c - s = 6 }}}
-----------------
I get 2 indentical equations, which is
just 1 equation, really, but I have 2
unknowns, so any {{{ c }}} and {{{ s }}}
that satisfies the equation works.
{{{ 2*12 - 18 = 6 }}}
So, I could say:
Clara is 12
Simon is 18
Many other ages would work, so I'm
saying there are no unique answers

Very strange problem. I would get another
opinion on this. Good luck
